Our Mission

It is the philosophy of the Crossfield (Ann Grover) Municipal Library that patrons living in the Town of Crossfield and surrounding rural area have equal access to an efficient and effectively operated library, and that our collection meets the cultural, educational, and recreational needs of our patrons.

Goals and Objectives of the Crossfield Public Library
  1. To Improve Library Services to the Public
    1. Increase the amount of services in the library and have access to other libraries' materials and information sharing via computer and Internet. In this respect, we have access already to Lethbridge library through interlibrary loans. We have three computer stations for free public use, however, this space is somewhat cramped.
  2. To Improve Programs
    1. Get story hour back into the library building.
    2. Establish summer and winter reading programs.
  3. To Achieve an Adequately Sized Library
    1. Join the community effort in procuring adequate space.
    2. To assist the Ann Grover Library Society in fundraising for a new library building.
    3. Report regularly to town council on progress.
  4. To Maintain a Line of Communication Between the Two School Libraries and the Public Library
    1. To improve co-operation in listing books of required reading during school term.
    2. To encourage children to use library resources for school projects.
  5. To Improve Capital Projects
    1. Make accommodation for rapidly increasing book collection.
    2. Improve our outdoor signage.
  6. To Market the Library and its' Services.
    1. Create awareness of availability of services of the library.
    2. Maintain library's web page.
    3. Regular articles and announcements in local newspapers.
    4. Purchase letterhead paper and envelopes.
    5. Enter a float in the local parade.

Five-Year Plan

Due to the expansion of the town population, we need to increase our facility. The Town of Crossfield Five-Year Capital Infrastructure Management Plan (2004-2009) acknowledges that need and it is a top priority for the town council.

The Crossfield and District Regional Recreation and Culture Master Plan 2002-2006, states that the library is the facility that needs to be expanded the most and number 2 on the improvement list. The library is facing a space crunch - from storage to shelving and display of books, cassettes, videos etc. The current space limits the library in the types of programs and services that can be provided to the community.

We are increasing volunteer support and community involvement with the formation of four committees involving people from the community. These committees will be assisting the board with programs and services development ideas, technology support, marketing, and building procurement.

With these goals and objectives the board and staff hope to provide, maintain, and expand, our high standard of service to our patrons
